Biography

Alexandra Spinney is a painter living in Philadelphia, PA. She received her BFA in painting from at Savannah College of Art and Design in 2004. She then moved to Brooklyn, NY to become better involved in the art and bird community. She collaborated with friends to curate and install several renegade art shows, and maintained a studio in the historic Brooklyn Fireproof building. Most recently, Alex received a MFA degree in Painting from State University of New York, in New Paltz, and moved to Philadelphia.

Originally from the Washington D.C. area, Alex Spinney has attended the Edinburgh College of Art (Edinburgh, Scotland), Savannah College of Art and Design (Bachelors of Fine Arts: Painting), SCAD: Lacoste (Provence, France), School of Visual Arts, State University of New York at New Paltz (Masters of Fine Arts: Painting), and The Vermont Studio Center. She currently has a studio practice in Philadelphia, PA, and teaches classes and workshops at various cultural institutions such as the Delaware Center for Contemporary Arts, Pegasus ArtWorks, The Cheltenham Center for the Arts, and Community based partnerships at public and independent schools.
